Indigenous Solidarity
$50-$150/hr sliding scale + match of all fees to local Indigenous group
If your organization is seeking consulting specific to Indigenous Solidarity let’s talk! As a community organizer and scholar on this topic, I am excited to work with organizations on this issue.
As a non-Indigenous person, I support other non-Indigenous people in the educational, emotional and logistical work required to show up well to Indigenous solidarity. Because of the nature of this work, I ask that you either (a) match all consulting fees with a donation to a local Indigenous group (b) already have a budget line item of a minimum of 1% of your annual operating budget that goes to a local Indigenous group (based on the Shuumi calculations for a non-profit).
Things I can support your organization with:
Educating your staff on settler-colonialism in California, using primary sources & recordings of Indigenous leaders
Holding space for the people in your organization as they unpack how they may benefit from colonization
Helping the people in your organization trace their lineages and how their people came to this continent if they are not Indigenous
Supporting people find meaning in their lineages that supports them in living into Indigenous Solidarity today
Supporting your organization in connecting with local Indigenous organizations and following their leadership
Supporting your organization in developing a budget line item that goes to Indigenous land return and cultural revitalization
Creating a process for writing a land acknowledgement that feels authentic to your organization and in line with the actions your organization is taking
Supporting external communications about Indigenous Solidarity from your organization
Supporting your organization in making a plan for how to engage your members in Indigenous solidarity
Creating curriculum, toolkits, ritual materials, etc. that incorporate Indigenous Solidarity lessons into your organization’s work
